It's a good idea if you have a clay chimenea to take the precaution of using lava stones to help stop the hottest part of the fire from touching the walls of your chimenea. Clay chimeneas run the risk of thermal shock and therefore cracking from intense direct heat and using these lava stones can help prevent that by stopping direct contact with the hottest part of the fire.

This bag contains four litres which is enough for a chimenea. They are reusable as well as the product does not burn. The lava stones are simple to use, all you need to do is empty the contents into the bottom of you chimenea or fire pit and build the fire on top of the stones. Lava has excellent thermal insulation properties, the lighter the lava stones the better the grade which is why we pack ours by volume rather than weight.
